Revived SIIM Annual meeting generates kudos by attendees

PARCA eNews – July 5, 2016 – The Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine Annual Meeting SIIM 2016 was held June 29 to July 1 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland Ore. Attendance was up, vendor exhibits were up, and lively presentations and discussions brought a renewed energy to the SIIM annual meeting.


Some of the hot topics included:
  • Enterprise Imaging: Not Déjà Vu All Over Again? The SIIM-HIMSS Workgroup has been working to formalize and standardize the workflow within Enterprise Imaging.
  • How will Clinical Decision Support (CDS) requirement affect medical imaging? Discussion of some of the recognized traps to avoid when implementing Decision Support.
  • Workstation ergonomics: while most radiologists are satisfied with their radiology workstation configuration, those who aren't tend to be younger and would prefer more monitors dedicated to non-imaging tasks
  • Patient-centric care: exchanging and sharing medical images for improved collaboration and patient care as healthcare moves toward an emphasis on value over volume
  • Peering into the future through the looking glass of artificial intelligence
  • SIIM and HiMSS collaboration
