Web-based lung and COVID-19 imaging data management system offered free

PenRad donates its PenLung CT tracking software

PARCA eNews – July 9, 2020 – Tracking CT exams amid the current COVID-19 pandemic has stretched many radiology departments to the breaking point, so to help out PenRad Technologies has decided to donate its PenLung, web-based CT tracking software to US based diagnostic imaging centers, according to a report in Imaging Technology News (ITN), an online industry magazine.

"In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic and based on some of the early literature focused on lung abnormalities demonstrated on CT exams brought about by the disease, we have updated our software to track key information in the patients likely long term journey, specific to COVID-19,” said Greg Gustafson, PenRad founder and CEO was quoted by ITN. “In light of the current pressures in diagnostic imaging and what’s sure to be an oncoming increase in procedure volume, we have decided to provide this software platform to diagnostic imaging centers at no charge through 2020.”

Keeping track of patient data, including lung nodules, structural changes and incidental findings, alone generates additional burden and liability for imaging facilities and radiologists. Added to this, a significant increase in COVID-19 lung computed tomography (CT) exams, and programs can quickly become overburdened.

Founded in 1995, PenRad provides informatics for Breast, Lung, Diagnostic Radiology, and Genetics, optimizing productivity and risk management initiatives.

Diagnostic imaging centers interested in taking advantage of the offer should contact PenRad via their website. Participants can register to used the software with all fees waived through Dec. 31, 2020.
