What You Need to Know About PACS and VNA

PARCA eNews – Sept. 4, 2014 – As facilities face demands for greater information sharing, Meaningful Use compliance, and increased efficiencies, VNAs are on track to become indispensable utility players. And, sales data proves it – according to an October 2013 Research and Markets report, the global VNA market is set to balloon from $165 million to $335 million by 2018. 

PACS administrators who have been there share five things you need to know before adding a VNA to PACS or replacing your PACS:

1. 1) Customer service is key to a successful implementation. Make sure the vendor will be there for training and launch.
2. 2) With the demand for sharing imaging among specialties beyond radiology and cardiology, make sure the access times are fast enough among physicians and between physicians and patients.
3. 3) Make sure you are getting a true VNA and not a rebranded PACS.
4. 4) Ensure the VNA offers interoperability across vendor product lines
5. 5) Include stakeholders in the selection process as soon as possible.
